Mr. Hufnagel joined the MSU Extension Ionia County team in March of 2008, assuming the role of county extension director. In addition to his administrative responsibilities, he is focused on community development activities and has joined Extension’s State and Local Government Area of Expertise team. He is also a member of the MSUE Community and Natural Resources Development Association.
Prior to his employment with Extension, Mr. Hufnagel was the chief executive officer for a national not-for-profit (NFP) organization focused on mental health. In addition to an employment experience of 20+ years in the NFP arena, he has also been involved on the other side of the table as a member of various local, multi-county, and statewide councils and NFP boards for more than 25 years.
Mr. Hufnagel received his undergraduate degree, with dual majors in employment relations and political science, from Michigan State University, and subsequently a master’s degree in public administration through Western Michigan University.
