Michigan Land Use Leadership Council

In February 5, 2003, Governor Jennifer Granholm announced the formation of a bipartisan Michigan Land Use Leadership Council
In an effort to preserve the character of Michigan, the 26-member council is charged with addressing the trends, causes, and consequences of unmanaged growth and development in Michigan (Executive Order 2003-4). The council will provide recommendations to the governor and the legislature designed to minimize the impact of current land use trends on Michigan's environment and economy.
This web site was designed for use by the council and the public. It will provide easy access to the background information, white papers, and full reports of the summaries provided in the council members' informational materials, as well as links to other useful land-use-related information.
Among the resources for the council are a great collection of materials for local planning commissions to use also:

Qualifications Based Selection

This is an alternative to using bids in Michigan, and a preferred method of selecting professional services (lawyer, engineer, planning consultant, architect, professional land surveyor). Bids should be the preferred method for purchase of tangible items and construction. QBS should be the preferred method for seeking professional or consultant services.
