Bee Wise…Immunize is an immunization education curriculum developed by Michigan State University Extension’s Family and Consumer Sciences program. The target audience is parents of young children.

The Building Strong Adolescents program is designed to assist parents in creating a plan to help adolescents ages 13-16 develop character and maturity to make the right decisions in life in an effort to eliminate their involvement in at-risk behaviors.

Building Strong Families Building Strong Families

In 1989, the Extension Home Economics Program developed a comprehensive parenting program called "Building Strong Families: Parenting Young Children." "Building Strong Families" is designed to deliver parenting information to limited-resource parents of children aged 0 to 3 in small groups or one-on-one.


Don’t CroakDon't Croak

Don’t Croak is a passive smoke education curriculum developed by Michigan State university Extension’s Family and Consumer Sciences program. The target audience is parents and caregivers of young children. The curriculum includes four lessons covering the following topics:

  • The need to eliminate children's exposure to secondhand smoke
  • Risks related to exposure to secondhand smoke
  • Anti-exposure techniques for use around the home and in public arenas
  • Assertivesness skills for exposure reduction

 

Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program

The Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) provides nutrition education to low-income families with children. MSU Extension instructors provide education in a way that is fun and interesting to help families maximize their resources.


 

Home Safe KidsHome Safe Kids 

Home Safe Kids is designed to educate and inform parents about the dangers of household environmental hazards and provide them with the opportunity to protect their children. Excessive exposure to environmental hazards has been linked to several social, physical and mental conditions.


Immunization Education

Immunization EducationMichigan State University Extension and the Michigan Department of Community Health have joined together to develop tools and training to help raise Michigan's immunization rate and promote better health among all citizens.


Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program - Education (SNAP-Ed)

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP-Ed)  provides nutrition education to anyone eligible for or receiving food stamp benefits. MSU Extension collaborates with other agencies to coordinate efforts and refer families to local community services that best meet the families' needs.
